Abstract

According to historical studies, the site that we presently recognize as the Kotatua began with most of the Sunda Kelapa region and the Zone 2 of the Kotatua Cultural Heritage area, where the reserve areas with highly historical and architectural value need to be preserved. With the advent of new buildings, special attention is required to ensure harmony in the region. Application of the facade elements sets a new contextual benchmark to this research case. The hotel , restaurant , and offices as a new building in Kotatua areas raises concerns with its contrasting existence. The new buildings in the area of cultural heritage need special attention so that the harmony of the buildings in the area is maintained. By using methods qualitative and descriptive, the study will directly visited several new buildings at Jl. Kali Besar Barat in the area of the Zone 2 of the Kotatua Cultural Heritage. The application of facade elements is a contextual requirement for new buildings in this research case. This study will review the morphology of the new building on Jl. Kali Besar Barat, Zone 2 Kotatua Cultural Heritage Area, Jakarta. The study results show how the adaptation of new buildings on Jl. Kali Besar Barat with surrounding buildings. One of the causes of the failure of Kotatua as one of the UNESCO World Heritage is the city planning that does not attention to this historic area, is a reason for us to care about historical sites. Regulations on the construction of new buildings in the Kotatua Cultural Heritage Area that have been set in Guidelines Kotatua, Pemerintah Provinsi Daerah Khusus Ibu Kota Jakarta, Dinas Kebudayaan dan Permuseuman Tahun 2007,better to be enforcement.
