Abstract
PLTMH (MHP Plant) is a Micro Hydro Power Plant that utilizes whether potential or kinetic energy from water to be converted into electrical energy. The construction of MHP Plant at PLTGU Tanjung Priok is aimed to increase the efficiency and create a renewable energy from the Brine Blowdown motor discharge pump at the Desalination Plant. The Desalination Plant functions to convert sea water into fresh water which will be used for make up water in the Steam Turbine System, Hydrant System and Water Sealing in the Generating Unit. The utilization of kinetic energy, in the form of water flow from the Brine Blowdown Discharge Pump at the rate of 386 m3/h has hydraulic power of 10kW. In order to be able to convert this energy into electrical energy, it is necessary to design a Water Turbine with a 10 kW generator. The load system is needed to maintain the quality of the output voltage of MHP Plant when the load changes. From the design results, this MHP Plant uses a Pelton type of water turbine with a diameter of 30 centimeters and 21 water turbine blades. This MHP Plant can operate with a load of 7 kW with an output voltage of 251VAC/53Hz. From the commissioning results, it was found that this MHP Plant operates ideally at a 5 kW load with an output voltage of 230VAC/49.7Hz.
