Abstract

ABSTRACT The automotive sector is rapidly expanding, as is the petroleum industry. The goal of this study is to evaluate the results of engine performance and exhaust emissions tests on four-wheeled vehicles with the AVANZA 1300cc injection type utilizing Pertamax and Shell Super fuels. Using a dynotest instrument to gather engine performance test data and a gas analyzer tool to collect exhaust emission testing data, this study method employs an experimental approach. The results of the study show differences in engine performance tests (torque and power) using Shell Super fuel and Pertamax fuel, where the difference in torque value is 1.11 Nm and the difference in power value is 0.77 HP. In the comparison of manual torque calculations and the results of tests using a dynotest using Shell Super fuel, the difference is an average of 0.04 Nm, while Pertamax fuel has an average difference of 0.05 Nm. In the comparison of manual power calculations and the results of tests using a dynotest using Shell Super fuel and Pertamax fuel, there is an average difference of 0.03 Nm for each fuel. Shell Super fuel has a significant increase in torque at engine speed of 2500-3000 rpm causing the temperature of the car engine to increase in the working temperature of the engine where the cooling fan in the engine is active to stabilize the engine's working temperature. Pertamax and Shell Super fuels are found where the differences obtained include the value of Carbon Monoxide (CO) levels with a difference of 0.07%, the value of Hydro Carbon (HC) levels with a difference of 45 ppm, the value of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) levels with a difference of 0 .3%, and the value of Oxygen (O2) content with a difference of 0.01%. And for the comparison of prices for Shell Super fuel and Pertamax fuel, the price difference is Rp. 1.580.00.
