Abstract
Fibre of palmtree represent one of alternative which can be exploited by in the place of composite glass fibre. Fibre of palmtree is easy to got and obtained at all points. This composite material is tank applicable to irrigate or water tub, kano, sailboat and others because in character which hold up to organism go out to sea and corrosive environment. Composite material developed own the fibre amount which vary (60, 70, 80 piece) and with the different fibre direction (aligned orientation 00 and random orientation). Katalis as ossification process from matrix having an in with the nature of mechanic from composite material base on polymer. To determine the composite material characteristic developed have been done by a examination covering tensile test and test the SEM. In this tensile testing by a parameter perception having an effect on to nature of mechanic from composite fibre of palmtree fibre. As matrix used is unsaturated polyester resins, methyl ethil ketone proxide (MEKP) as hardener with the its composition comparison is 1 % from weight resin. As reinforcement used by fibre from tree of sugar palm that is fibre of palmtree fibre, mould used from PVC (polyvinyl chloride) with the system print is hand lay-up from technique print composite of open moulding at space temperature. Pursuant to this tensile testing result indicate that composite fibre of palmtree fibre have the power of to (σ = 45.47 N/mm2 ) and strain (ε = 3.86 %). Pursuant to result of examination SEM (scanning electron microscope) show the marking of topography surface showing fibre location do not flatten, the happening of barst around fibre, also there are hole because handicap of air cavity
