Abstract
The Production Monitoring System is a system that functions to monitor the state of field production by providing more accurate calculation results. This system uses a PC as an interface with the user and a microcontroller which functions to retrieve data from sensors installed on the machine. Several aspects that are monitored include ongoing production results and machine down time. The data recorded by the microcontroller is stored in a database, which in this case uses Interbase as the database server. In this study, the modbus protocol communication standard will be used. The Modbus protocol is the rules for data communication using the Master-Slave technique. In this communication there is only one Master and one or several Slaves that form a network. This master and slave is formed using a microcontroller that uses a Max 485 as a form of an RS-485 network. The test results show that the production monitoring system created using a microcontroller and the modbus protocol 03 function as a communication language between master and slave, runs well. Sending a query by a master with an unsupported Slave ID will result in a time-out error, while for function code that is not supported by the system it will generate an exception response.
